Project Description

Y Strainers

Y (Wye) Strainers also known as a Y Strainer gets its name from its configuration and is most commonly used in pressurized lines, gas or liquid. They are an industrial strainer and can also be used in suction or vacuum conditions. Furthermore, under the right condition you can clean out the Y strainer without removing the screen. Firstly solids need to flush easily from the screen. Secondly, fluids need to be released. Therefore, a blow-down valve on the drain will allow flow to continue without removing the screen. By definition a strainer provides a means of mechanically removing solids from a flowing liquid. Y Strainers do this by utilizing a perforated metal, mesh or wedge wire straining element.

Y-Strainers can be used in either a horizontal or vertical position while most basket strainers are designed for horizontal or slightly inclined piping applications. You must pay attention to the orientation of the chamber which collects debris and the drain (blow-down) connection of the Y-Strainer. The strainer must be installed so that it is in the lowest possible position

Y-Strainers are used to protect pipeline systems by filtering out small debris through the strainer’s internal basket or screen. The custom made basket can be sized with a mesh to catch smaller objects.

Y-Strainers remove items from pipelines. They protect pumps and other equipment. Being cost effect in most applications, it is a good idea to use them as much as needed. Y-Strainers are used in chemical processing, petroleum, power generation, marine, and etc… Y-Strainers are best used when a clean-out is not needed often. They are commonly used in high pressures.

Y-Strainers are furnished standard with drain connections and pipe plugs. most ordinarily, Wye strainers are fitted within the field with nipples and drain valves to allow the strainer screen to be cleaned while the system remains in process. By opening the drain valve while the system is struggling , the debris trapped within the screen is “blown” through this connection helping to scale back system shut-downs for maintenance and cleaning.

Y-Strainers strainers are offered in both domestic and foreign castings with a good sort of straining options for nearly any application.

Y-Strainers are available in forged iron , Ductile Iron, Bronze, Nickel aluminum bronze , Carbon Steel, chrome steel , and a spread of specialty metals including Alloy 20, Hastelloy C276, Monel, Chrome-Moly, and Titanium to face up to thermal or mechanical shock and corrosion.

Cast Wye strainers and in fact are available in most materials

Pressure ratings are ANSI 125# through ANSI 2500#. Standard body materials offered are forged iron , Ductile Iron, Cast Steel, chrome steel , Chrome-Moly and Bronze. The Wye strainers are equipped with a detach port. A valve are often fitted to flush debris that’s easily removable from the screen and exhaust to atmosphere or a drain system. This feature allows for straightforward cleaning without interrupting the method . Various Perforations, Mesh or Perforation Mesh combinations or Wedge Wire screens are available to satisfy your process requirements. we feature an outsized inventory so you do not need to depend upon us for your pack up or construction delivery requirements. inspect our full line of strainers or for more information contact us immediately.

Wye Strainers

Steam, water, oil or gas where protection from foreign matter in a pipeline is required.

The Wye strainers are constructed from rugged 316 stainless steel castings and are machined to exacting specifications. These bodies have drilled flanges that are in accordance with ASME B16.5. All flanges come standard with back-faced bolt holes.

Wye strainers features a machined groove in both the body and cover for proper screen alignment. Furthermore, to ensure accurate reseating when servicing is required. The gasket is 304 stainless steel spiral wound. Thus it is compressed between the body and cover (for maximum strength and durability). Moreover, they are designed for high pressure and high temperature service. Wye strainers have cap screws and can be furnished with a stainless steel blow-off plug upon request. Blind covers are available upon request.

Wye strainers standard perforated 304 stainless steel screens are spot welded along the seam for maximum strength. Different size perforations and meshes are available in stainless steel, monel, and brass to meet specific media requirements. If media is not indicated, screens for steam will be supplied.

Self cleaning is accomplished by opening the valve or drain plug connected to the blow-off port.

Wye strainers take their name from their configuration. they’re most ordinarily utilized in pressurized lines, gas or liquid, but also can be utilized in suction or vacuum conditions. they’re intended for applications where small amounts of solid particulate are expected, and where clean-out are going to be infrequent. If solids will flush easily from the screen, and fluid are often exhausted to atmosphere, a blow-down valve on the drain port will allow clean-out without removal of the screen, and without interrupting the method flow.

Wye strainers threaded strainers in forged iron and Cast Bronze feature a machined, tapered seat which ensures an ideal fit the removable, chrome steel screen. All sizes come complete with NPT blow-off with plug, which may get replaced with a valve for on-line blow-down of particulate.

Wye strainers take their name from their configuration. Wye strainers are cast in sizes ¼” – 24″ with Threaded, Socket Weld or Flanged End connections. Strainer are your most economical choice for giant debris removal. they’re most ordinarily utilized in pressurized lines, gas or liquid, but also can be utilized in suction or vacuum conditions. Y Strainer has the advantage of having the ability to be installed in either a horizontal or vertical position. However, in both cases, the screening element or “leg” must get on the “downside” of the strainer body in order that entrapped solids are often properly collected and held for disposal.
